Dear friends,
Yesterday we had our first fall kickoff day in three years, and a glorious day it was. The church was full, the music was great, Sunday school was lively, and the table groaned from all the food at the potluck. It could not have been a better day. We also had many people sign up for the various ministries. The sign ups will be in the parish hall for the next couple of weeks, so if you missed it yesterday there is still plenty of time to sign up for things. (Flower guild, altar guild, lay reader and lector, usher and greeter, and choir are all Sunday ministries that could use more people participating).
There are several things to remind you of in the next few weeks.
The flower guild is sponsoring a flower arranging workshop on Saturday, September 24th. The cost is $30. For more info or to sign up contact Nancy Dillon or Kate Gaul. Anyone with interest in flowers is invited to come.
Dunstan Dines is small groups who get together for dinner about once a month. It is open to everyone — singles, couples, all ages. The groups will be six to eight people. It is a great way to get to know your fellow parishioners. If you are interested you can sign up in the parish hall or contact Michele Smither or Susie Throop. We will have a kickoff dinner in the parish hall on Saturday, October 1 to reveal the groups.
One of the most fun events of the year, the Blessing of the Animals, is Sunday, October 2, at both services. Please consider bringing some dog or cat food to help local animal shelters.
Several people asked for copies of my sermon from yesterday. It is attached.
