“The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some have entertained angels without knowing it.”
Dear friends,
Meet this country’s newest citizens, Ibrahim and Sana Dallou. We helped sponsor the Dallous when they came to this country seeking refuge from Syria. Members of St. Dunstan’s helped teach them English, took them to the doctor and dentist, paid for driving lessons, and most importantly, offered friendship and encouragement. One of the best evenings we’ve had at St. Dunstan’s was the dinner we shared to break the family’s Ramadan fast.
Several weeks ago Ibrahim texted me from Pittsburgh (where they are now part of a larger Syrian community) with the news that he and Sana had passed their citizenship tests. Today they took their oath and became citizens of the United States, adding to the rich diversity that is this country at its best.
