Dear friends,

One week from today is Christmas Eve! It always comes faster than I anticipate. Here is our schedule for the last days of Advent and the Christmas season:

Sunday, December 21 — We will have one service at 10 a.m. on this Fourth Sunday of Advent. During the service we will decorate the Christmas tree (thanks to John Gimson and Joseph Henry Monti for setting it up and putting the lights on). The service will be followed by a potluck lunch. Bring a dish and stay to enjoy the festivities.

Wednesday, December 24 — Our Christmas Eve liturgy begins at 5 p.m., but plan to come early and enjoy the special music, beginning at 4:40 p.m.

Sunday, December 28 — One service of Christmas Lessons & Carols at 10 a.m.

Sunday, January 4 — One service at 10 a.m. celebrating Epiphany (a couple of days early) and the appearance of the wisemen. Also this will be our new organist/choir director Brian Parks’ first Sunday with us.

Sunday, January 11 — We’ll be back to our regular schedule of services at 8:30 and 10:45, and Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.

Last weekend members of our refugee team took Christmas to the Kombete family. The gift cards and Christmas decorations were a huge hit, as you can see from the pictures. Many thanks to all who contributed and all who have helped the Kombetes navigate their first year in America. This is what our faith is all about — welcoming the stranger and helping those who have less than we do.

Finally, our Dunstan Dines groups will be ready to begin soon after the New Year. We have 40 people who have signed up! Dunstan Dines is small groups (6-8) of parishioners who have meals together about once a month — either in someone’s house or a restaurant. It’s up to each group to decide what they want to do. It’s a great way to get to know your fellow parishioners better. The groups will be announced in early January. If you are interested, but haven’t signed up let me know and I’ll add you to the list.

I look forward to seeing you all Sunday.

With love,

Tricia
