Dear friends,
Ever since we have returned to church from Covid we have talked about engaging in more “hands on” outreach to the wider community. After much discussion, we have decided to partner with New American Pathways to befriend a family of refugees. That is a big undertaking that requires many volunteers. We’ve had people sign up to help, but could use more. We need both “direct service” volunteers, who would be in direct contact with the family doing things like teaching English and helping them to acclimate to life in America, and “support” volunteers, who would help in furnishing an apartment, stocking a pantry, and other things. Tomorrow Mimi Gold will be making an announcement with more information.
Remember that tomorrow we are back to our regular schedule of worship at 8:30 and 10:45, with Sunday School at 9:30. In Sunday School we will be discussing a video series “Living the Questions” about what it means to be a progressive Christian. Join us for what promises to be a lively discussion.
The funeral service for Bob Adams will be on Saturday, May 6, at 4 p.m. Here is a link to Bob’s obituary: https://www.oxleyheard.com/team/robert-%22bob%22-g.-adams
The service bulletin for tomorrow is attached.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
