Dear friends,.

Sunday is one of StDunstan’s most long-standing and fun traditions, the Flying Pig BBQ. Here is what that means. There will be ONE service at 10 a.m. Immediately after the service is the BBQ, either in the Beech Grove or the parish hall, depending on the weather. Everyone is invited to bring a side dish. Tickets are $15 for adults and children over 10; $5 for children 10 and under. If you can, please come early to chop pork and help set up, or stay late to help clean up. It will be a fun day of great food, great fellowship, and great music, provided by Jessie Leyton and her band. And special thanks to John Gimson, the head BBQer. You don’t want to miss it.

Did you ever wonder how things get set up for communion every Sunday? That is the work of the Altar Guild, a dedicated group who make sure things are ready for both Sunday services and other things, such as funerals. The ranks of that dedicated group are pretty thin right now. If you’re looking for a way to become more involved at St. Dunstan’s, this might be for you. Usually Altar Guild members set up for the 8:30 service on Friday or Saturday. Then someone cleans up after the 8:30 service, and resets things for 10:45. Then there is clean up after that service. It may look complicated, but it’s really not. Our cochairs Marshall Kress and Elizabeth Wong-Mark are happy to train new members and work with them until they’re ready to do it on their own. I once heard the work of the Altar Guild as preparing God’s table and doing God’s laundry. I think that is a good description that reminds us of the sacred service that is at the core of this ministry. If you’re interested please reach out to Marshall or Elizabeth.

Finally, this week we have had all the locks changed at the church. So if you have a key it will no longer work. If you need a new key please let Claudia know. She is the keeper of the keys to the kingdom, or at least the corner of it that is St. Dunstan’s.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday.

With love,

Tricia
