This year during Advent we will be helping Emmaus House, an Episcopal community center near the old Turner Field, honor the grandparents in their community. Grandparents in Peoplestown, as the area is called, are often guardians of grandchildren or other family members, called on to raise a second or even third family. This is often down with little help or thanks, We can help Emmaus House recognize and thank grandparents by helping them have a festive “Grandparents’ Party.”
Here’s how we can help. Each of the approximately 80 people attending receives a basket and/or gift card. We will be collecting $10 gift cards for the attendees (grocery store, Visa, or Walmart). You may also donate gift baskets to be raffled off or other raffle items such as towels, dishes, small appliances, or gloves. Items need to be at church by Sunday, December 15. You may put them in the red wagon in the narthex.
