Dear friends,

As dreary as today is, the church is looking festive. The mailbox is decorated, wreaths (with Advent-purple bows) are hanging from the doors, and the Advent wreath is decorated a little more each week. This Sunday, the third of Advent, we will light the pink candle that symbolizes joy.

In Sunday School this week we will complete our series on the women in Jesus’ family tree with a discussion of Bathsheba and Mary. Join us at 9:30 in the Founders’ Room.

Remember that we are still collecting coffee (ground, no decaf), bags of sugar, and hot chocolate mix for Church of the Common Ground. We’ll be collecting through December 18.

If you’d like to donate in thanksgiving for or memory of someone for the special Christmas flowers and music, please turn in your check with information by December 18.

Here is our schedule for the rest of the Advent/Christmas season:

  • Sunday, December 18, the Fourth Sunday of Advent. ONE service at 10 a.m., followed by a potluck lunch. At the service we will decorate the Christmas tree.
  • Saturday, December 24, our Christmas Eve service begins at 5 p.m., with 15 minutes of special music before the service.
  • Sunday, December 25, ONE Christmas Day service at 10 am.
  • Sunday, January 1, ONE service of Christmas Lessons & Carols at 10 a.m.

The service sheet for this Sunday is attached.
