Dear friends,

I am writing to let you know that our former parishioner, Danny Woodard, died on Wednesday from multiple myeloma. Danny, his wife Rhonda, and daughter Victoria were members for a long time before transferring to St. Benedict’s a few years ago. Danny was on the vestry and a mainstay worker at the BBQ.

Danny’s parents, Sheila and Dan, have also been members of St. Dunstan’s. Dan died about 10 years ago. Sheila now lives in Lenbrook retirement center. She is no longer able to come to church, but keeps close tabs on what is going on.

Danny’s funeral will be at St. Dunstan’s sometime in early August, and he will be buried in the Memorial Garden. I will let you know the details as soon as we work them out. In the meantime, I know Sheila would appreciate cards and notes.

We also received some good new. Our parishioner Joni House, who died in December 2020, established The Bird House Trust to be able to continue supporting organizations that were important to her. St. Dunstan’s outreach program is one of the beneficiaries. Last night we received word that the Trust has awarded us $10,000 to divide between the Sandy Springs Solidarity and Emmaus House food pantries. We also have submitted a proposal for 2023 to help fund sponsoring a refugee family. We should hear about the status of that proposal at the end of this year.

Many thanks to Vivian Siggers and Lynn Hood for the thorough and attractive presentation they put together, and to other members of our Trust committee — Alex Hodges, Elise MacIntyre, Martha O’Brien, Mimi Gold, Peg Maloney, and Lori Westphal — who are brainstorming the best way to use the Trust funds into the future.

With love,

Tricia

O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: Accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Danny, and grant him an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
