Dear friends,
I hope you are enjoying a long holiday weekend. If you’re in town please join us for worship tomorrow. The scripture readings, prayers, and hymns are all those for the nation.
Also after tomorrow I will be on vacation. Earlier this year I realized, to my surprise, that I am due for a sabbatical. Usually sabbaticals are three months long, plus the usual one month vacation. The idea of taking that much time off did not appeal to me, so the vestry agreed with my proposal to instead take an extra month of vacation this year, and the following two.
So I will be taking six weeks off beginning Monday. It will be in part a working vacation since we are interviewing for the choir director/organist position. I’ll be in town most of the time, except for a week in August in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state. You will be well taken care of by Maggie, Colin, and Stefanie Taylor.
I’ll use the last two weeks of vacation in September on a photography trip to Italy. More about that later!
