Dear friends,
When you come to church this week make sure you take a look at our beautiful new sign! It is visible from the street in both directions. More improvements are coming. The old sign will be dismantled, the mailbox will be replaced and moved, and the grounds crew will work their landscape magic. Many, many thanks to Marilyn Morgan, who persevered until all the city permits were acquired. Not an easy task! The final results look great.

Beep! Beep! The Kombetes, our family from Cameroon, are in need of a car. Their home in Jonesboro is not conveniently located to anything, including public transportation. We are currently underwriting more than $2,000 in Uber costs for them to get to work and do shopping. One of the young men, Bonhuer, is currently studying for his driving test. We are looking for a good, reliable, used car to be donated or sold to the church at a below-market price (with a tax benefit of the donor). If you have such a car, or know someone who does, please contact Steve Hauser or Susan Johnson.
It is stewardship season, the time that we gather pledges to help us operate the church and its programs for the coming year. You should have received your pledge card in the mail. If you haven’t let us know and we will get one to you. We ask that they be returned by All Saints’ Sunday, November 2, so that budget planning for 2026 can begin. FYI : Our yearly budget is $500,000.
Also remember the other big event of the fall. The annual Flying Pig BBQ is on Sunday, October 26. We’ll have one service at 10 a.m., followed by the feast. There are sign up sheets in the parish hall for side dishes, and help with cooking, setting up, and cleaning up. Tickets are $15 for ages 10 and up, and $5 for those under 10.
Finally, you may have heard on the news that this Saturday there will be “NO KINGS” gatherings and rallies around the country. I prefer the name that Priscilla Davis gave them — Standing Up for America. There are many scheduled around the Atlanta area — the Civic Center, Decatur, Marietta, East Cobb, Smyrna, Tucker, and Woodstock. You can google for details. Many St. Dunstanite’s plan to attend the rally in Brookhaven. We will gather at 10 a.m. on Peachtree Street near Canterbury Court, just north of Club Drive. There should be extra signs for those who don’t have time to make their own. We had a great turnout from St. Dunstan’s at the June rally. Let’s see if we can beat it on Saturday!
With love,
Tricia
