I have finally reentered the world after my bout with Covid. Fortunately, it was a mild case, but it lingered for a while. I am glad to have it behind me.
Every Sunday the flowers at our altar are breathtakingly beautiful. Flower guild chair Michele Smither and her group do a fabulous job, enhancing the beauty of our worship week after week. The flowers are there whether anyone has signed up to sponsor them or not. This is a reminder that you are invited to give the flowers anytime in memory of someone you love, in thanksgiving, or any other reason. You do not have to buy or arrange them; the flower guild takes care of that. They typically spent between $75-$100 a week, but any amount helps offset the costs. If you’re interested in giving watch for a signup sheet in the narthex or email Claudia (office@stdunstan.net).
During the past years we have gone through round after round of gift card scams. The scammer scum send out an email or text, supposedly from me, asking for gift cards. I got hit with a new version of it today. I got an email, supposedly from a parishioner, saying she had laryngitis and couldn’t talk on the phone, but wanted to ask me a favor. I replied sure. The response to that was she had a friend who was getting ready to have surgery and she wanted to send an Uber Eats gift card, but couldn’t get it to go through, so would I do it for her? She’d reimburse me. I got suspicious and texted and emailed this parishioner to see if this was a legit request. It wasn’t. Be suspicious of anything having to do with gift cards. And when I checked the email address it wasn’t the one I had for her. The chatty tone of the emails fooled me for a minute. Don’t let them fool you.
And finally, you’re head and heard some of my musings on my trip to Ghana in the spring. This is an annual pilgrimage sponsored by the diocese for both clergy and lay people. I think our group had about six clergy and 12 lay people. The applications for next spring’s trip are now available. You can find the link in this story.
