I write today with the sad news that parishioner Nancy Young has died. Nancy and her sister, Pat Berman, have been active parishioners at St. Dunstan’s for many years. Those of you who are relatively new to St. Dunstan’s will not know them because Nancy has been too weak and ill to come to church for the last four years or so. About 3.5 years ago she, and her cats, moved in with Pat. Pat has been the most devoted sister I have ever seen, putting aside everything else to take such good care of Nancy. Nancy was a long-time librarian. At St. Dunstan’s she was a lay reader and helped with finances. She was a great lover of cats, taking in any stray she came across. She was also a great lover of books, music, and church.
Because of the situation with the pandemic the service for Nancy will wait until we can gather. In the meantime, I know Pat would appreciate hearing from people.
We will include prayers for Nancy in our service of night prayers this evening.
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Nancy. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
