As you can see from the picture below, the narthex is being filled up with school supplies for children in Sandy Springs who might not be able to afford them. We will continue collecting through Sunday. Below is an Amazon link to the list of what is needed. Many people have had Amazon deliver directly to the church, 4393 Garmon Road, Atlanta, 30327. I was very surprised today when almost 25 people showed up to begin discussing Project 2025. We will continue the discussions for the next two Tuesdays, and then will reconvene in September to talk about specific things we can do to make an impact on the election. Attached is a list of some of the hopes and dreams that the backers of Project 2025 hope to accomplish. They are a terrifying threat to our democracy, and much of it is being done in the name of a very perverted Christianity.
Next week we will be discussing five of the topics on the list — ending marriage equality, eliminating federal agencies, the mass deportation of immigrants, cuts to Social Security, and teaching “Christian” religious beliefs in public schools. The numbers next to the topic refer to the pages in which they are discussed in the official 900-page Project 2025 document. I’ve bookmarked the document so that I can refer to it without having to download or print the entire thing. It can be found at www.project2025.org/policy/
