Dear friends,

What is better than going on vacation? Coming back from vacation to a job you love. I had a great time while I was away, but I am definitely glad to be back. I’m still going through and editing photos from my week in Alaska. I’ve attached a couple of them below. I have many more to delete, and I hope a few more that are worth saving.

This Sunday we go back to our program-year schedule, That means we will have two services again — one at 8:30 a.m. and one at 10:45. We’ll also have Sunday School from 9:30-10:30. We will begin with the video series Living the Questions. Here is a description of the series:

People know that at its core, Christianity has something good to offer the human race. At the same time, many have a sense that they are alone in being a “thinking” Christian and that “salvaging” Christianity is a hopeless task. What is needed is a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask, but have been afraid to voice for fear of being thought a heretic. Living the Questions explores beyond the traditions and rote theologies in which so many people and local churches seem to be stuck to help seekers discover the significance of Christianity in the 21st century and what a meaningful faith can look like in today’s world. Come join the discussions!

As I’m sure most of you know, Covid is on the rise again. The day after I got home from Alaska my traveling companion called to say she was sick and had tested positive. We had just spent 24 hours a day together for a week. So I spent the last week of vacation isolating. Amazingly, I did not get it —  probably because of the booster I got in July. I’ve read conflicting reports on how contagious and serious this new strain is. But as I know all too well, even what initially appears to be a mild case can quickly become more serious. I hope we don’t get to the point where we need to require masks again, but I encourage people to wear them if you have any underlying conditions. We will have masks available on Sunday. And please, please, please get your boosters!

With love,

Tricia
