Dear friends,

So we have a new pope, and shockingly, he is an American, albeit one who has lived outside of the country for decades. There will be more to learn about Robert Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV, in the days to come. But for now we should all pray for him as he takes on the mantle of leadership of the world’s largest denomination, and a symbol of Christianity to millions more.

When you come to church this week you may notice that there is a sign for a building permit in front of our current church sign. I asked grounds committee chair Marilyn Morgan to tell you why.

“At long last the permit has been issued for a monument sign for St. Dunstan’s to be erected along Garmon Road,” she writes. “The permit requires that a 2’x3’ sign with 4 inch letters be posted to notify our neighbors of the intended construction for 30 days before commencement. The permit allows the signage approved by the Vestry last year. We expect construction of the sign, along with appropriate landscaping, to be completed during the summer months. This addition will be a welcome addition to our landscape renovations.”

Many thanks to Marilyn, who has been dealing with city officials for many, many months to get this permit. The new sign will be visible from the street in both directions. I look forward to seeing it and the landscaping around it. It will increase both our visibility and the beauty of our entranceway.

The end of May will be here before we know it. On May 25, Memorial Day weekend, we will go to our summer schedule of one service at 10 a.m. That will be our schedule through Labor Day weekend. There will be no Sunday School in the summer but we will have it at 9:30 the next two weeks.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday.

With love,

Tricia
